If you sit in a café round here, watching curvy, smiling middle-aged mums in floral dresses munching cupcakes and chatting about nail polish, don't be too surprised if you see the same women pounding along the cycle path the next day, carrying a backpack full of water and completing their twentieth mile of the day.
It's a slog on sore feet, breaking toenails on burning tarmac and watching stronger, faster athletes disappear over the horizon.
Possibly the most fun group run I've ever done.
